18 Jun Finding the Right Buyer: Maximizing Your Business Value
Q&A with David & Jay
Question:
What synergies (cost, revenue, operational) are expected, and how will they be measured?
Answer:
A business’ value is always a question of “value to whom”. Some buyers will place a value on synergies, some will place a value on gaining territory or vendor relationships, and still others placing value on customer accounts, and some will tell you how awesome they are, and why they are the only true buyer you should be considering, even when their offer is well below others. It is very much in the eye and timing of the beholder. This is why it is important to cast a wide buyer net and explore the marketplace. You never know who you might meet and where they might see value.
Takeaway:
Because business value is subjective, casting a wide net in the marketplace is essential. Exploring all options ensures you find the buyer who sees the greatest strategic value in your company.
