About Health Care Training Services:

HCTS is a training and staffing company that fills a niche between the local health care provider and the available labor pool of southeastern Massachusetts. They are ideally suited to provide workforce training in the high demand health care paraprofessional positions.  They also capitalize on this training by placing their students and other paraprofessional into rewarding positions that meet employers’ needs and employees’ lifestyle.  This company is truly unique in all that it does and aims to accomplish in the years ahead.  This profile covers just the beginning of what this company is positioning itself to become.

Health Care Training & Staffing Services (HCTS), is a Fall River based organization that specializes in two primary business lines and several related secondary business opportunities.

The primary business lines include:

  • A licensed occupational training school, and
  • Licensed temporary staffing agency.

The secondary business lines include:

  • An “At-risk” enrichment and training program,
  • Phlebotomy home draws,
  • After school program, and
  • Other health related training programs

As the company’s name suggests, is training people to be health care paraprofessionals, including Phlebotomists, Home Health Aides (HHA), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA), EKG techs, Clinical Office Assistants and Medical Office Assistants.

During the last six years, the market for phlebotomists and home health aide services throughout New England experienced remarkable growth.  This increase was attributable to a change in health care funding, outsourcing of clinical laboratories, a network of state and federally funded elder care programs, combined with an array of certified home health agencies that provided a relatively large amount of Medicare and Medicaid-funded home health aide services.

The result, particularly in inner-cities, was shortage of trained paraprofessionals:  Demand outstripped the ability of training programs to supply new “Medicare-certified” workers.  Within this relative labor shortage, HCTS was able to establish itself

The HCTS concept is based on capitalizing on a market opportunity to address a market need.  Their market research indicated that Fall River employers such as labs, home care agencies, hospitals, and long term care facilities continue to have difficulty sourcing adequate numbers of dependable, trained staff.  Accordingly the company has tailored its philosophy towards being an agency, which can provide dependable, paraprofessional-staffing services to certified home health agencies, clinical laboratories, and area hospitals.

In this region there is also a dire need for job creations, as large numbers of individuals, particularly women, are unable to find work.  In the city of Fall River approximately 10% of the workforce is unemployed.

The student body for most of the courses come from the local area and enrollment in many of the advanced courses comes from prior students who enjoy the career and are looking to better themselves and the opportunities that are available to them.

The school is licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Department of Education as an occupational school and is approved to offer student loans under the federal student loan programs.  The school also accepts students who are eligible to receive federal and state training funds.

The company offers small personal classes (10 – 15 students per class) in their Fall River and New Bedford location.  Courses are offered days and evenings. Some courses such as phlebotomy begin a new session each month, others are offered bimonthly or quarterly.  The office assistant programs are open enrollment due to the nature of the course work.
